The Ministry of Fibre is an independent company representing some of the finest handknitting yarns in the world in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada.

It is solidly but sparsely staffed by Prime Minister Julia Grunau and Minister of Technology Keith Denning.

Most handknitting yarns available in Canada come through a few large distributors. I began seriously knitting in 1988 and have not stopped since. After eight happy years of working with one of the distributors, I quit.

I quit because there were magnificent yarns out there which were not available through traditional distribution, and I believed that a truly independent representative should be able to make a living bringing those yarns to the rich, fertile, extensive GTA knitting market. It has so proved.

The wonder and glory of being independent is that I get to pick what I sell. Yarns available through the Ministry of Fibre are swatched, washed, worn and loved by me and my family and friends.
